THE PROPOSED TOWN BOARD.
(to the editor.) Sir, —I was much interested in the report of the discussion at the last meeting of our civie fathers relative to the proposed Town Board, and greatly e mused at the remarks of one or two members of that body. The remark by Cr Norton about signing the petition to suit Mr M'CarJle is as silly as it is absurd and I am more than surprised at that gontlemah making such an assertion. But that statement is very mild compared to Or Armstrong’s observation that half those who signed did not know what they were signing ! What next! I am one of those who signed and must say that the cheek (excuse the slang) of that wise councillor is something to smile at. I guess (a la Oparau Mao.) that he ought to quote “ do not know what they sign.” Does that same gentleman know all the resolutions he signs at the council table, more especially the one to which our worthy chairman took exception. “ Fools rush in where angeh fear to tread.” I am not gift id with more than the ordinary annum of common sense, but still as one who did not know what they signed (to quote tbe blatakowbia repre.entativH), I strongly object to one so young in public life holding me up to public ridiculo ( and there are also others who do not need to take advise from even a councillor. —Yours, etc., TOWN BOARDER.
