A QUESTION OF IDENTITY.
(to thb editor.) Sir,—With regret I find it necessary to write to your paper with referJnce to tbe various statements that have been made regarding my identity. It has been rumoured that I am a brother to Gua. |Blanc (champion 20in. block standing) and that I am A. Clarks (champion 2ft. block underhand). These statements are injurious to me from a sporting view, and also in a private sense, as it leads to the belief that I am going under an alias. I would respectfully request those who have made the statements to refrain from repeating them, as I have never used any other name than that which is mine by birth—Herbert John Russell. If this statement is not sufficient to stop the rumours, I shall have to take more extreme steps.—Yours, etc., H. J. RUB3ELL.
