Ex-Governor Francis, of Missouri, speaka as follows of the local paper : “ Each year the local paper gives ' from £5OO to £lOOO in free advertising space to the community in which it is located. No ojher agency can or will do this. The editor, in proportion to his means does more for a town than any 10 man. He ought to bo supported, not because von liko him personally, or admire his writing, but because a local paper is Hie best nvdstment a local people can make, It may not be brilliantly edited or overcrowded with thoughts, bat financially it is more benefit to the community than the teacher or the paeacher, Understand me, I do not mean morally or intellectually, but financially.”
