TARANAKI GBOWKB'B SPECIFIC. The following I'hnuld be cl inlered to potato growers ie this distrioi : Mr J. O Ewtwood, of Tarwnaki, is said to be growing potatoes entirely free from blight. He uses a preventative that wm by his father is the West Indies ae a precaution against blight in the arrowroot and ginger crops, which Ute disease very readily. He has been using this specific with his potato crops at Tongfoporutu for five years and has not ones bad them effected by blight. The specific is made up of 6lbs of sulphate of ammonia, and Bibs of nitrate of potash, dissolved in 25 g-*ll-> i« of water, approximately 4 z <>( each to a gallon of water, and tbe urns strength is use! for all seeds, fie soaks tbe seeds for 24 hours, and in the case of potatoes allows them ti dry for anothor 24 b dore planting, so as to avoid mildew.
