A concert, drama and dance was held in fbo Publio Hall, in aid of funds for a children’s picnic, on Monday, tbe 18th inst. There was a good attendance,md the programme was exceedingly well rendered. Bongs ware rendered by Mrs W. Bell, Misses Prentice and Thompson (Te R >re) c Messrs W. and H. Bell, Howe, Edgecombe, Worthington, James, Jones, Thompson and others. An amusing drama, "The Harvest Storm,” was staged by the local amateurs, aud was received with rounds of genuine applause. All the parts were faithfully carried out, tn the majority of cases the appearance being the first before the .footlights. The audience were satisfied that the traveling companies who visit Pi r >ugia are not in tho aime street as tbe local actors. At tbe conclusion supper wp - handed round, the hall beiug then cleared for dancing. A sum of £7 16s was token at tbe door.

On Wednesday Miss Hayes (for merly post Distress) was married to Mr W. Pope. The ceremony took place 5 n the Roman Catholic Church, the Rev. Father Tormey officia 1 ing. Afterwards the happy couple drove to tbe residence of tbe bride’s sister (Mrs Perrin) where a sumptuous wedding b *eok(a t was served Mr and Mrs Pope gave a dance io the Hall in the evening, which was well attendsd. The weather during the pa t fortnight has been particularly fine for the time of the year. Bic, like all giod things, it did not last long en n-’gb, and now we are experienc ag cjU, wes 3-Iy winds, accompanied by bl=ak showers.
