OBDINABY MEETING. Tbe usual meeting of the above was held on Tuesday lust, when there were present— Crg W. W. M'Cardle (ohairniin), H. Armstrong, H. Shaw, G. G. Jonathan, W. J. Shaw and A. W. Babbage. The minutes of the last meeting were re id and confirmed. COREESrONPENUK. From-J. VV. Stewart, Auckland, forwarding deed of dedication of road along the beach at Lemon Point, Kinohaku.- Or Shaw said that this road was of importance, being a continuance of tbe Mahoenui-Kuwbia road. Ho believed that Mr Wright intended selling 28 ' sections fronting the toad when it was taken over.— Agrernent ta be signed and returned. From H. H. Pettit, Kawhia, offering to insert county advertisements at the uniform rate of por inch.—Offer accepted. From H. J. Greenslad?, M.H.R., forwarding reply received from the Minister of Public Works re the petition for the Awaroa-Mahoe road loan (which has been published in our .col umns). He was under the impression that a poll had been taken and the necessary formalities completed, as otherwise, of course, the loan could not bo obtained. It was certainly desirable that all the loan formalities •hould be expedited, as otherwise he would be handicapped most seriously in his endeavours td secure the much needed & for £ subsidy. This would also apply to tbe other loans for roads which ihe Gounod contemplated raising.—The Chairman said that Mr Gceenalade suggested to him that tha poll should be taken, bat it was not compulsory to lift it.—Cr Armsirongi remarked that the petition should not have been sent as from the council.— The Chairman : It had already been agreed that I would forward tha petitions on, and I would have done the same with a petition from you or any other councillor—Ct Babbage re marked that when the petition was sent to Mr M'Cardle, those who signed it bad no idea of it going through the Council.—The Chairman thought it would be as well for tbe other ridings to apply also.—Cc W. Shaw : Do you not think, Mr Chairman, that the Government have treated us shabbily in not replying cc letters about this matter ?—The Chairman could not say as be was not in Kawhia just at that time. He had written to the Premier who had promised to give the matter favourable consideration. Cr W. Shaw said that in regard to tbe application to the Colonial Secretary they had not received an answer. On January Btb a resolution was passed in connection with tbo loans, and the CounciFhas been very negligent.—Tne Chairman said that some of the work ordered when the County was first started bad never been done. Tbe Council was more k) blame than tho Government.—Cr W. Shaw : Tua blame is ours all right, but still we have been utterly ignored by the Government. The same applied to the Harbour Bjard, and he did not think that the Council was being treated with consideration.—Cr Armstrong : We can’t expect anything else when underhand work is being carried on.— Tbe question of loans was eventually dealt with by motion. From several settlers on tbe Okupata road, Oparau, asking that neces sary steps be taken jo raise a loan for that road.—Granted. From settlers on the WaitetunaAotea road making a similar request in connection with their road.—Acceeded to.
From Chief Surveyor, forwarding uncoloured litho, of the County, and stating that he would forward a coloured one as soon as possible.—Received.
From T. E. Trolove, Aotea, drawing attention to the dangerous state of the bridge of the Raiuamuuamu Creek, which was unsafe for man or beast.— to. From C. W. Wright, Kinohaku, "notifying that he had transferred section 17, block I, Kawhia South, to Dr C. Campbell Jenkins.—Received. Frnn P. 0. Rose, "feecretary Kiritehere Settlers’ Association, stating that 12 months ago a petition signed by every settler there was forwarded to the Council, asking for inclusion in the Kawhia County. As tbe Awakino County did not want them and had no objection to their going in the Kawhia County,, he would like to know how tho ir.a.tter stood. The southern boundary was to be a straight line running eut ‘g Nukuhakari. —Cr. W. Shaw: I believe the Awakino County opposes coming into operation. Tbe Chairman could see no cause for delay, and thought the request could be given effect to before the end of the tbe coming session of Parliament.— Cr Armstrong suggested that tbe settlers get up another petition.—Motion. From Clerk Raglan Council, soliciting Council’s support in advcoating that the month of October be substituted for May in the matter of regulutlog traffic ou roads.—Motion.
From Clerk Tauranga County Council, requesting support to the following resolution: “ That in passing the clauses of the Local Government Bill proposed to ba introduced during the comiog session, the Premier be req looted to re introduce tho prop >s»| ot caking over" the main roads as in surtel in the Bill of 1900, — \f >tion. From Chief Surveyor, relative to the request to have the Matakcwhia and Taumaf.&totara blocks of native land opened for settlement, and stating that as tbe blocks mentioned were before the Purchase Board the ma ,ter would receive attention—Reoaived.
From Valuation Department, asking that tbe roll should be returned so as tbe sections under the Bush and Swamp Act could ba marked off,—Attended to.
From Same, forwarding amended account for vuluation of county, and reducing it to £45 in lieu of £6o. Cr Shaw thu.igb the whois amount should be struck off.—Tbe Chairman c incurred. The work in tie Kawhia Riding was badly done.—Motion. From Chief Engineer of Roads Wellington, stating that enquiries would he made into the mat o* of tho completion of the Kiimanga road tn its junction with tbo Awaroa road and also the Awtroa-Maboe road as far Is Mr Reynold’s section.— Received.

From Department of Lands and Survey, returning thirds schedule so that a couple of sections which could not be beuefitied by the expenditure proposed could be remied.—Cr N jrton remarked that the information was not correct. Armstrong, Babbage Th.it this Council cannot see any advantage in the proposal of the Raglin Cjuuc'L to alter the month for closing roads to traffic.

W. Shaw, Norton : That Mr Divis be informed that he has a remedy to protect himself in the Impounding Aet Armstrong, W. Shaw—That the Council request 'be Auckland Land Board to throw open for settlement as soon as possible, section 1, block IV, 1785 acres, Kawhia South, and 601 acres of Crown land adj doing section 8. block XIII, Kawhia South ; aLo, that it is thought that it wouid be of benefit to the district if section 1, block IV be divided into two, and that it would n >t be fair to tbe rest of the settlers if the land is brought oat under the Bash and Swamo? Act.
