An event that was overlooked in my la?t letter occurred here on the Ist of April, namely, the birth of a little son to Mr and Mrs Klein—the first child born in the district. There has been quite an inceasa in the permanent population during thfHst few months. For the year wp have gained an additional twenty resident?, the latest to arrive being Messrs Giles Bros , late of Whangirei. Owing to the continued bad weather Messrs Ball Br >?. and R>ss have had to partly dote down the flaxmill to the YiTgetting the fibre dry Th/a" new football club held thei” first practice la«t week. Q u’te a strong team will be put in the field, a the young men of the district ar® quite enthusiastic over the matter.
