I n >w beg to inform you I have enquired into the matter and I regret to find that the fac’s wer ss r ted .by you Fourteen trains are despatch-', daily to Onehunga, but mai s are only de spa*ch°d by four «f them, »ni the iacter ; boxes attached to guards' vans hiv-» hitherto I been closed on all of them exc pt the four referred to. The train despatched at 12,10 p.m, does not carry mail for the Onehunga office, air hough it may occasi-.rally ca -y mails for despatch bv steamer f om One hunga. When this is rhe case ha letter, box should of course be open, and thia is a point which I regret to say has bean overlooked. I have, however, now arranged with the Railway Departm-nt th t trains carrying mails for connection with steamers leaving Onehunga are to have the letter boxes open, and you should have no ground for complaint in future.
