Farmers’ Union.

KINOHAKU BRANCH. ANNUAL MEETING. Tne annual meeting of the Kinohaku branch of the Farmers' Union wag held on Saturday last, Mr W. J. I Shaw presiding. The annual report and balance-sheet were read and adopted.' There is a credit balance of £2 4s 3d, which shows the union to be io a flourishing condition. The Chairman’s ‘address was interesting. Mr Shaw proved that a considerable amount of good had been done, and that a large amount of energy had been expended with a great deal of benefit to the district at large. He called attention to the many works tbe union had been tbe means of getting attended to, viz., Mangapohue Road, Marakopa Valley Road, Whakapirau Road, the appointment of J’s.P., mail and telephonic Goramunicatio.l3, the spending of uu expended sums on tho estimates, whilst many other matters had received the earnest consideration of the committee with more or less suo3ess. A heaty vote of thanks was accorded to the sitting member (Mr Greenslade) for his energy in assisting tbe settlers in their many wants, bis enthusiasm and all round courtesy being especially commented upon by the chairman and meeting generally. A vote of thauks vas also passed to tbe Minister of Public Works for his kindness and promptness ih attending to business addressed to him by the branch secretary. It was mentioned that ths union had been the maans of bringing the bene fits likely to be derived from the establishment of a butter factory at Kinohaku, and we can confidently 1 >ok forward to the time when we shall have a fully equipped factory on the south side of tbe harbour. Tbe election of officers was held over in order that delegates from Kiritehere and Awaroa may attend, the date to be advertised.
