(khom ora own coavestjNnxNr.) There was considerable disappoint in juc bore (not to menuun tha tiu e th tt was lost) owing to tba Land Bj.ril pirty n t arriving on its app luted date. However, toey did find th ir way here <>n Sunday Uu. three d ys behind time ; but I suppo.-a it is q i»e safe to blame tbe we for ;b« d lay. They were eagerly interviewed by all classes of the cummunity, fr >m th i brawny son of tril to the ranch own«r, each and all uf whom g>t • pvtieat and attentive hearing. Judging fr.»m the earnest manner iu whicn Messrs Mackenzie, Green si ade and Burd enquired into the many want-* of the district I feel justified in saying that much g >od will result from tbeir visit here. There are some amongst us who seem d?sattsfied with reference to lab »ur matters, and sought to get things put on a better footing, but with what result I know not. Surely it seems an abject thing in “ G >d*fl own country ” for a man to be forced by circumstances to beg a brother of the earth to give him leave to toil. Tbis is one of tbe many inennvenienoee of being poor, as such things are only reserved for them. Mr John Harper has taken over Mrs Carr’s boarding house, and as usual contemplates many changes, tbe increase in business demanding still more accommodation. He is a good business man and is sure to give satisfaction. However the people here may differ in other things, they certainly are all ot one mind iu thinking that tbe sports at Lemon Point are going to turn out what they deserve to be, an extraordinary success. Esau Pretty has nominated for three events at tbe carnival, also several other good men from outlying districts there being as high as 24 nominations for some of tbe chopping events. If we are only favoured with a fine day wa certainly will have some capital sport. I might also mention that there will be an upt) date refreshment booth. There will also be a- uanoe in the evening in Scott’s Hall, K%whia, so lovers of tbe light fantastic are not neglected by the sports committee*
