Death of Judge Wilkinson,
Tho nows of ths sudden duutb< of Mr G. T, Wilkinson camo us a surprise and shock to many European* and most natives in Kawhia, where the deceased gentleman wb > well known. For over 30 years Mr Wil- - was in Government employ as Native Agent, Native hand Purchase Commissioner, and finally as Judge and President of tbe Mauiapoto • Tuwharetoa Council. Most of this time he spent in, or on tbe borders of, tbe King Country. Ho had great experience and knowledge of native matters, was an exceptionally good Maori linguist, and all his dealings with uatiyus were marked with courtesy, consideration and kindliness. He was greatly respected anu trusted, tho natives looked upon him as a firm and faithful counsellor, and his lose is deeply felt herd, particularly so amongst the older natives. Wu beg to tender our sincere sympathy to Mrs Wilkinson and family.
