THE LATE ELECTION.
(to the editor.) Sir, —I wonder when our newly, elected M H.R. is g ing to make an eff »rt to obtain for the Kawhia Countj the many good thing# that “ I will u=e my beet endeavours to obtain.’* To take a few of the items mentioned in the Kawhia speech : That special grant of £12,000 or £15,0(H) to tbe Kawhia County Council would be very acceptable now (or even a reply to letters sent to tbe departments by thg clerk). When are cur beautiful pohutukawa trees to be fenced te keep them from destruction ? When is that metalled road to Oparau to be completed ? (about £5O spent in fixing up the bad boles would not be a bad idea for a start). When will w« be able to go to Auckland by rail (an effort to get the survey put in hand ii tbe first move). “ I will so# that every item placed on tbe estimatM is expended.” This fin# weather would be a eplendid time to expand that £76 on tbe Kawhia street.—Yours, etc., WATCHING.
