OVERWHELMING GOVERNMENT MAJORITY. (By Telegraph.) SPECIAL TO THE SETTLER. Wellington, Friday. The elections p issed off quietly and gave the Government a majority of 46 vote?. In addr<tg-iing the electors this morning, the Premier said that he never felt the slightest anxiety as to the result of the election. The final result gave 59 .Government supporters against 13 Opposition. In conclusion be said, “ I hope the New Zealand Times board will be photographed and I hope the same people will read, mark, learn and inwardly digest, and understand that tha.se who do their duty have nothing to fear from Dispeople. There is a trait in humanity proving that when an injustice is be ing, as has been done me and mine, the people will not have it, and that has been shown throughout New Zealand to-day.” During the day Mr Tilly, a candi date for one oE the Auckland seats dropped dead.
