Buoying Channels.

IN THE KAWHIA HARBOUR.

X’no trovsfnmeni steamer ttinemoa, in charga of Captain Boltons, arrived aOEtey/hte on Saturday morning from OdehUnga and anchored in the stream off M. keta. The reason of the visit was the sounding and buoying of the Waibarukfcke Channel to Lenon Point, which was commenced on Saturday and completed on Tuesday. As the Hinemoa reached Kawhia sooner than was anticipated locally, there was not time for the resolution passed at the meeting of the Railway League on Wednesdoy last (re sounding the bar and surveying and buoying the other channels in the harbour) to be sent by post to the authorities, and accordingly Mr W. A. Gosling, secretary of the teagua, wired as follows to the Minister for Marine: “ At representative meeting here on Wednesday decided t * ask your department to sound xtsw-aa bar and also survey and buoy Oparau, Rakauaui anil Awaroa Channels. Steamer Hinemca is now hers buoying Waiharak:ke Channel. Could nob. in* structi iS be sent to have the work specified done ?” A reply was not received until Tuesday morning, when Mr Gosling was handed the following telegram : "Captain of Hinemoa instructed to sound bar r id buoy channels where nee r ted so tar as buoys he has on boa. J will allow.—Geokue Allport, Secretary for Marine.” Oil. Saturday morning Mr Pet'it wired to Mr F. W. Lang, M.H.R., as fellows : —“ Representative meeting Railway League Wednesday resolved ask Marine Department to sound Kawbia bar and buoy channels. Hinemoa hero now. Wired Minister above. Support. Work urgent.
