The Pohutukawa Trees.
Mr F. W. Lang, «M.H R., has forwarded us the following letter which he has received from tbe Tourist Department.;— “ Sir, —With reference to the question of providing a retaining wall to protect two pobutukawa trees at Kawhia, about which a representation was made to me some time ago. I have had full enquiries made and have been furnished with an estimate of the cost of providing such protection. I regret, however, to inform you that
tbe cost is much in excess of what I anticipated, the action of the tide at this place being so severe that a very strong wall is required to resist it. Under the circumstances I regret to advise you that X am unable to have the work undertaken.—Yours, etc., Albbrt Pitt, Acting - Minister for Tourist and Health Resorts.”
