The persons who are named as the Provis- ’ ion al Directors will be the first Directors of b the Company, and will hold office until a the statutory meeting of the Company, \ when they will retire, and the Shareholders v •’* w iil bo called upon to elect Direcbore for
the ensuing year. . . There is a strong consensus of opir m among the forming community that the establishment of an up-to-date breezing and Preserving Company in the vicinity of Auckland City, owned and managed by the fanners themselves, is of vital importance, An option of purchase of a site at Otahuhu, containing 71* acres or thereabouts situated on the railway line and bounded in pari by the Mangore road, has been secured from Mr George Lamberton Thomson, of Otahuhu, which is exercisable on or before the 2nd day of February, IUO4, the consideration being £2.710, which will be payable in cash. It is proposed to carry on the business of the Company on the lines of the Belfast Freezing Company of Canterbury. This New Zealand Company has been established for upwards of twenty yearn; has been eminently sncoeSeful from the first; has Extended flourishing branched to Ashburton and Timn.ru, and. is almost entirely owned and managed bv fa: mors. No better object leason can, therefore, be quoted to the
farmeni of Auckland. - Briefly .the JMtoAt, Fxneaiag JMpW doee not buy stock (although possessing tbo right to do eo by its Memorandum of Association), and is therefore not interested in keeping prices down. The Company freer.es for all customers strictly in order of application at the lowest cost. Customers can dispose of -their meat in any manner they wish; for instance, they can ship home through the Company or any other agent, or sell on the hooks at the works. The establishment of ‘The Auckland Farmers’ Freezing Co., Ltd.,’ managed on 5 similar lines, will promote healthy competition, and by presenting an ever ready cht.n- --? nel to the grower for the disposal of his fat S stock, will insure a steady and remunera- : tive market, not only for fat stock, but also ? ' for store sheep, Cattle, and steer calves of the i\ dairvman; the prices of each of these < classes, as is well known being ruled by the price of fat stock. Aa large areas of new country have been
? taken up during the last three years, and ne the same process still continues, it ie confidently believed that in the near iutMe K the supply of fat sheep and cattle for freez- > ing wul be ample. The Dairy industry also \ as it expands, will provide an ever increas ' ing number of steer calves, wkich will be turned into beef in due course. s The establishment of the Belfast Freezing Company m the various eentrea has in S each case been attended with great benifit to town and country, and, as a consequence •' with prosperity to tho farming community, y This prosperity has arisen, not so much from the actual profits obtained from the Com ' pany itself, as from the indirect benefit de- > livable from the steady and remunerative b market for stock which is assured by the operations of sued* a Company, and by consequent advance in the value of land. \ It is therefore with confidence that the " farmers of Auckland Provincial District are invited to heartily support the Auckland Farmers’ Freezing Company. Limited, by h. taking up shares. Copies of the Prospectus and and Forms of applicatian for Shares. may be procured ■ from Bank of New Zealand, ■ Auckland or £ Hamilton, tho Secretary, or from tho solid|\i tor to the Company.
