THURSDAY. (Before Mr H. W. Nortberoft, b.M.) Police v. HeAra.—Defendant was summoned by the police for throwing sheep din into the river Mangaokawa, it beingria trout stream. Defendant pleaded that bo acted under the orders of hie employer, Alex M'Cardle, who would lake all responsibility. Adjourned tilt next eonrt for tbe appearanee of Mr M'Cardle. Railway Department v. C Harrison, for allowing cattle to trespass on the railway.—lbis was ao adjourned case from last court. His Worship, in giving decision, said that the agreement between 4he Government and the natives at tbe time that tbe natives gave tha land tor tbe railway was that it should be fenced ; and as this had not been carried out, he dismissed the case, and regretted he could not give costs. Maori Council v. Maniiwaite, for tailing to register two dogs.—Defendant pleaded guilty, and was fined Is in each case, with £3 Is Gd costs. civic casus.

It appears that Messrs Bottler and Co. had seiz sd two horses, value £50,. belonging to tbe prosecutor, on distress warrant taken against D. Ormsby (si n o2 tbe prose cutor), who some twelve mouths before owned tbe horses io question. He handed them over to] bis f tther |in Marell last in part liquidation of bis debt £93 8s GJ, which debt had been running on for four yeaFs.
