Sunday School Picnic.

1 Ideal weather favoured the picnic of the scholars of tbe Kawhia Congregational Sunday Sch.ol, .which took place at Te Maika on Thursla;, 12th inst., and tbe result was that nearly the whole of tbe Pakeha population of Kawhia attended, tbe outing being universally pronounced to be one of the most enjoyable ever held here. Tbs scholars, together with their parents and friends, assembled on tbe whar|r about 10 p.m. and were taken on board Messrs Newton, Morgan and Berg's launches, and thence conveyed to the “ convincing ground,” tbe trip down the harbour proving very enjoyable. On arrival at Te Maika, the children soon commenced amusing themselves, and were assembled for the mid-day meal shortly after noon, at which over 60 children and as many adults were present. After the good things provided had been fairly sampled, tbe children were regaled with races, etc., matters being so arranged that almost every child received a prize, and needless to say title portion of the programme gave entire satisfaction. A race for I young ladias wm won by Miss Murial Symons, wilh Miss Perham second. Mr Smith, of the British Biograph Co., very thoughtfully brought his loud speaking gramophone, winch rendered some splendid selections to tho delight of those present. Tea war served about 130 p.m., after which the picnickers returned in Messrs Newton and Green’s launches. The ladies aad gentlemen who had tbe airrangements in hwd worked most energetically, and their efforts were well rewarded by the success achieved. Amongst tbe visitors were several residents of Kinohaku, Mr H. M. i Smeeton, of Auckland, and Mr and i Mrs Blackmore, of Pirongia. i
