We beg to announce to our subscribers and readers that from tbs first of January last, Mr Pettit ba. taken over this paper, and wa iml that the same patronage will be given to him (the new proprietor) as has been vouchsafed to us in the past. THE KAWHIA CARNIVAL. This very important annual gathering ban come and gone again. It is the yearly meeting ot back-block settlers, who, after the toils of the year, have a little respite from their dally round of labour, and oome from tbeir solitude of busb life to mingle with their friends and visitors. It is Jack » dull boy if these planters of the South Blocks do not come once awhile to enter upon the joys and pleasure, of the festive seasons. Although th. weather has been somewhat diseppointing to many, yet, we.believ., the visitors from different parte of th. . Kawhia district and elsewhere, bar. I participated in the merriment of th. ; Carnival season, and will return to. their lonely homes better fitted io enter j upon the toils of life which ley before them.
