AMUSEMENTS.
LEO, JAN AND MISCHEL CHERNIAVSKY. Good news; very good new*, is to hand. The young geniuses, Leo, Jan and Mischel Cherniavaky, violinist, pianist, and 'cellist, will visit this town during their present New Zealand tour. All mußic lovers, in fact even a wider public than is implied in music lovers, will hail witn delight these sturdy young Russian artists. It is interesting to note that the first war fund waß Btarted by the Cherniavskys in Brisbane, and the first donation received by the Mayor of that city was from them. During their visit to Brisbane they gave one concert in aid of the fund which is now larger than the war funds of any of the other Statos. Leo, Jan and Mischel Cherniavaky have had an enormously successful tour in Australia. The young artists can re3t assured that, they will aet a good reception on their visit to this town. The New Zealand tour will be * quick one, as the Cherniavskya are due shortly (o open in the U.S.A., where their coming is being eagerly looked forward to. Of all the concert parties that have visited this country since the Clara Butt tour, the Cherniavskys have been the strongest attraction. The Cherniapskys appear at the People's Picture Palace on Friday, March 12th. "WITHIN THE LAW."
J. C. Williamson's famous drama, "Within the Lav?" will be staged at the People's Picture Palacp, Te Kuiti, for one night only, on Friday, March sth. This remarkable drama holds the record for number of performances both in Syndey and Melbourne. The story deals with a pclice injustice to an innocent girl sentenced for a term of three yearß' imprisonment, and the means she adopted "to get even" with society and her employer. Mr E. W. Morrison, the distinguished J. C. Williamson producer, rehearßed as well aa selected the cast for this production. He chose the types especially required to portray the various characters, and consequently a wonderfully well balanced company is the result. The scenery was painted by the best J. C. Williamson artists, and the greatest attention has been paid to overy small detail to beep "Within the Law' up to the standard as a remarkable play. There are four acts. The place of action is all laid in New York. The Maxim Silencer used in the production is furnished by the Maxim Silent Firearms Co., and was specially constructed for me in "Within the Law." It is not allowed to be sold aa it is well known that it would constitute a danger against mankind. The box plan will be opened at McColl's. EMPRESS PICTURES.
