In the House of Assembly, Mr Connolly, Liberal member for Perth, brought forward a motion to reduce Parliamentary allowances to the level of four years ago, reducing the pay of the Speaker, the President, the Chairman, and members by £IOO and depriving the Ministers of members' pay. The Premier angrily opposed the motion, declaring that he earned his salary. The Assembly, after a stormy debate on the proposal, carried an amendment for a further graduated temporary income tax. In common with other dairy factories in the Dominion the Pio Pio factory is reaping a benefit from the high prices ruling in the butter market. It is understood the output for the months of February and March has been sold at a really good price, which will ensure the suppliers a very fine season.
