PHILOMEL'S OPERATIONS.
LANDING PARTY ENGAGED. Wellington, Thursday. Tho Minister for Defence is advised that an armed landing party from H.M.b. Philomel came into contact with the enemy, who were in much greater force. The officers and men behaved very well indeed, and retired under cover of the ship's guns. Two were killed as previously reported, and three wounded. The wounded are doing well. The enemy'B casualties were at leaßt 26 killed, and many more wounded.
