A Two-up Game. —Four men named Harry Daniel, Archibald Mark, George Smith, and John Newton were charged with playing twj-up at Pio Pio on January 27th. Ma'k admitted the offence and was fined 20s and £2 13b lOd costs. Newton denied having played, but was convicted and fined £3 and £2 13s lOd coats. The charges against Daniel and Smith were dismissed.
Rescuing a Horse.—Kenneth Leslie, charged with rescuing a horse being brought to the pound, was convicted and fined £2 and costs 9a. Assaulting a Maori.— Emil Fredericksen, on a charge of assaulting a Maori named Tokihana, was convicted and ordered to pay costs. A Theft Charge.—E. S. James and W. J. Hibbs, charged with stealing a nurse, locket and chain, and money to the total value of £5 14b 6d, the property of S. H- Earney, of Wairere, were convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon. Accused were also ordered to pay £3 17s6d eacb.the cost of the prosecution. Juvenile Court.—A lad was dealt with by the Juvenile Court, being charged with the theft of a whip valued at 15s. He waß convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon.
