AWAKINO COUNTY MATTERS.

POMARANGEI ROAD. POUR CONTRACTS LET. In Stratford on Friday, M"W.,TJennings, member for the district, brought the request of the settlers interested in the Pomarangei road construction before the engineer, and was informed that four contracts have been accepted, and work will bo pushed on immediately. A large number of other reauests dealt with by the Stratford Public Works office of interest to the western portion of the electorate were also submitted, and satisfactory replies given. The wharf and landing stages have been erected at Marokopa, and the work being completed, Mr Wouldes, chairman of trustees, has invited Mr Jennings to declare the wharf open. The Battlers are celebrating the occasion by a gathering.
