THE TURKISH CAMPAIGN.
INVASION OF EUROPE. OUTPOST FIGHTING. Cairo, Sunday. The Turks occupy Katia, with outposts a Bir-el-Dueizar, 12 miles nearer the Canal. They have outposts at Moyahsrab, 25 miles east of the Bitter Lakes, and at Bir Mabeiuk, 10 miles east of Suez. A British post east of Kantara beat off a reconnoitring party of the enemy. The Turks -let*-- four dead Our losßea were an Indian officer and an Indian killed and five Gurkhas wounded. A French pilot and a British observer were obliged to leave a hydroaeroplane in the desert. Returning afoot in the darkness, they were shot dead by a British patrol, who mistook them for the enemy.
The Turks attacked a post at Kubri, near Suez, but were easily repulsed. The Turks withdrew from several advance posts owing to fright caused by bombs dropped from an aeroplane. NEW ZEALANDERS IN CAMP. Dunedin, Monday. Tne Hon. Jas. Allan informed a reporter to-day that the New Zealand troops in Egypt were not engaged in the outpost engagements cabled, but he iB of opinion that some of our troops have been moved out of camp to share in the honours of duty at the front. GERMANS IN TURKEY. THREATENED BY RESIDENTS. UNREST AT CONSTANTINOPLE. London, Sunday. Rome advises that the agitation against the continuance of the war is increasing to an alarming extent in Constaninople. Enver Pasha is openly blamed for the Turkish defeats, and has fallen into disgrace. An uprising is seriously threatened, and the Germans in Constantinople are greatly alarmed, many of them fleeing. Attempts to hold d«monstrations in favour of the Allies were suppressed after much rioting and bloodshed.
