CHANGE IN GERMAN LEADERSHIP.
VON FALKENHAYN RESIGNS
PROM FIELD-MARSHAL,
London, Thursday
An Amsterdam message says it is officiallv announced in Berlin that Field-Marshal von Falkenhayn has resigned the portfolio of war, and that General von Hohennborn has succeeded to the office. (Field-Marshal von Falkenhayn, who succeeded to the important post of Chief of the German Array, has had but a very short reign. In view of the resignation it is interesting to note that Thursday's cablegram mentioned that von Falkenhayn strongly favoured the resumption of the offensive against France after the temporary German success at Soissons. The Field-Mar-hal is said to have advocated the making of a great battle in the Argonne, and also in tha Oise Valley, while the Kaiser is credited with having favoured an advance at the other end of the line held by the I Allies.)
