BUSH TRAIN DERAILED.
THREE NATIVES KILLED
Taumarunui, Friday.
A terrible accident occurred this morning on the Taringamutu Timber Company's line. A train of open trucks and a covered passenger car runs from Taringamutu on the Main Trunk line, to the bush at Wa'ituhi. A number of Maoris travelled on the open tracks, and some pakehas were travelling in the covered car. Apparently the train ran off the line, as the trucks overturned. A Maori child was killed, and the mother waa badly injured. Two Maori women each had a leg broken, and a third native broke her arm. Fortunately, the fact that the passenger van was covered saved thfe Europeans, who were uninjured. Later. The latest details Bhow that two native children have died as a result of the accident on the Taringamutu bush railway. Th 9 wife of Hira Te Akau, a woman armed Rangieru Te Aro, also succumbed to her inj jries.
