MARCHING TO DEATH.
TURKEY'S ILL-EQUIPPED ARMY. Cairo, Monday. Tho Press Bureau, in a communique based on statements made by refugees, describes the Turkish army which is being sent to invade Eygpt as likely to display bravery but not capacity. Many of the Turkish troops are starving owihg to bad organisation rather than to lack of supplies. They have neither sufficient horses nor camels. Many camels are dying. The troops are ill-clothed in summer khaki. Geraran officers reported to Berlin that they were unable to advise an attack on Epgyt with such troops, suggested a postponement. The Germans, however, ordered the march, though one officer describes the army aa marching to certain death. Refugees state that there is bad feeling between the Turkish and German officers. The latter fear that if they no not succeed in crossing the Suez Canal the Turks will attack them.
EGYPT QUITE PREPARED,
NAVY AN IMPORTANT FACTOR. London, Sunday. The Timee' military correspondent says: "If 70,000 Turks, as reported,, are massing in Sryia 11 cross the desert, they will meet with a warm reception. The navy can also take a leading part, not only in the Suez Canal, but in operating off El Arißh, on the Mediterranean coast, arid in the Gulf of Akabah, at the head of the Red Sea. AYe ought to have all the trumps in our hands in playirg this rubber, but wo must not forget that the Turks fight with courage, and are a military people with great traditions, which must not be despised."
