MORE TRENCHES TAKEN.
ALLIES' STEADY PROGRESS,
Received this day, 9.20 a.m. Paris, Tuesday.
A communique states there is violent cannonading from the sea. to the Oise. There is _very lively fighting round the trenches north of Soissons, which we captured on Friday. On Sunday, several German attacks were reputed and we captured more trenches.
Artillery duels are proceeding from Soissons to Rheims; also at Souain. There was a desperate struggle at Beausejour redoubt. The enemy established trenches inside the fortifications, whereof we still hold, and a salient struggle continues. We repulsed German attacks on Consenvoye and Le BoUchot woods, which are on the Meuse heights. We surprised and routed a German company pillaging" Sant Sauveur, near Cirey-sur-Vesouze. Snowstorms continue in the Vosges and Alsace. / . ' ..,
