A PRIZE WORTH WINNING.

Russia is inviting the attention of bhe men of letters of all countries to the fact that the most valuable liter-' ary prize over offered is now open to competition. The subject appointed is a study of the life and work-of the Czar Alexander 1., and the prize fund was deposited in the Bank of St. Petersburg by Alexander's Minister, Ararktcheef, in 1833, with directions that it should accumulate at compound interest until the year 1925. The first prize, it is computed, will then'amount to about £200,000,- while a further sum of nearly £IOO,OOO-will be distributed In consolation prizes.
