EMPRESS PICTURES
To-night and Monday an exceptionally fine programme will be screened at the above theatre, including a star film entitled "The Governor's Double." and the latest War Budget. On Tuesday and Wednesday evenings another lengthy star picture will be screened, entitled "A Woman's Triumph," adapted from Sir Walter Scott's book "The Heart of Midlothian." Picture patrons will be pleased to know that the management have secured "Antony and' Cleopatra" for screening next Tuesday and Friday evenings. This picture GC n .upie3 the screen for two hours. Public .opinion has placed "Antony and Cleopatra" ahead of all other photo plays, including "(Jn'o Vadis" and "The Last Days of L Pompeii." "Antony and Cleopatra" is not the same. film as "Cleopatra" screened at the Empress some months hack.
THE BRAEMARS—MIRTHMAKERS. At the People's Picture Palace last evening, the second part of" tfaa programme wan devoted to the Braemsrs. That a number of our townspeople Were sceptical is admitted, but the satisfaction expressed by. those present last evening should guarantee a bumper house for the second appearance at to-night's entertainment. With the assistance of Madam Braemar striking and-interesting tests of mental suggestion were carried put successfully.. Some half-dozen subje.'t3*wera "successfully brought under the control of the professor and the whole audience, were convulsed with laughter at the antics and-, doings' of tha subjects. We commend the entertainment as a good evening's enjoymsnt. ' ,
