SNOWFALL IN Tllu SOUTH.

Dunedin, Monday

The weather is very unsettled and cold, and heavy rain ia frequently falling. At Naseby yesterday morning, the weather-Was ideal, but toward evening a cold wind set in with rain, sieet, and snow. The snow was an inch deep early this morning, but it soon disappeared". At" midday a tremendous gale, accompanied by thunder, lightning, and hail, struck the district.

The storm was the worst experienced for 40 years. It is expected that much damage will be done to fruit, lambs, and shorn sheep.
