SEVERAL HOUSES WRECKED. London, Thursday. When tho thunder of th>) German guna was first heard West Hartlepool inhabitants thought that gun-practice was proceeding. Then they he:\rd explosions in the direction of the railway station and shipyards and saw the gasometers and timber ynrda on tho waterfront burst into Humes. Tho weather being hazy, nothing who visible except sudden jots of Han-rr. The forts came iito action, anu all the troops were paraded to prevent a possible landing. Shops and offices were emptied, aid business was suspended. The waterworks were partly damaged. Severnl houses in tho higher parts of the town were wrecked. Many people ran into the parks, where several sheila fell into their midst. None wore hurt, however.
SINKING OF RAIDERS REPORTED
LOSSES AT HARTLEPOOL,
London, Thursday
An unofficial report from Bylth, a seaport town in Northumberland, states that all the German raiding vessels have been sunk.
A message from Stockton-on-Tees, in Durham, states thst .'SO persors were killed and 64 injured at /Hartlepool.
