POLITICAL CAMPAIGN.
PRIME MINISTER'S TOUR, TO SPEAK AT TAUMARUNUI. The Prime Minister is expected to arrive in Auckland towards- the end of next week, af.d he will probably remain in the district until election day. Mr Massey will deliver a political addrcsa-at Taumarunui on Wednesday evening. SIR J. G. WARD TO VISIT TE KUITI. As election day,-draws nearer, interest in'the. contest is quickened, and the chances of the various candidates sre eagerly discussed. The leaders of both parties are. working hard in the interests of their supporters, and are delivering speeches at various "centres. Mr Massey has just concluded a. tour of ths South, and Sir Joseph Ward has coma Nurth to delive? a series of addresses. The Opposition leader has consented to address the electors at Te Kuiti, and arrangements hatfe been ir.ad9 for h;m to do so on Thursday evening next. It is some years since Sir Joseph Ward spoke at Te Kniti, the last occasion being when the Taupiri street hall was being erected. MR SHORTLAND'S TOUR." Mr Fred. Shortland, Independent Reform candidate for Taumarunui, is now toaring the backblocks, having delivered addresses at Mahoenui, Pio Pio, Arip, Mangapehi, Waimiha, and Mokauiti since his Te Kuiii meeting. This week the candidate is working back through Pio Pio to Mairoa, WaitangurUj Waitomo, and . Hangatiki. He wili.thgn proceed to Kopaki, Tangitu, l Okahukara, and the Wanganui river district, concluding his campaign at Taumarunui. The candidate had good meetings at all the centres visited. MR /WILSON. AT OHURA. Mr C. K. Wilson had excellent meetings at Tatu and Tokiriraa, and received unanimous, votes of confidence. He will work through from iihe Ohura to the Taumaruni district, and will be present at the .Primo Minister's meeting at that centre on Wednesday evening. Mr Wilson held a meeting at Ohura last night, and had an enthusiastic reception froih a large audience. A unanimous vote of confidence . was accorded the candidate and cheers were given for th 9 Masse? Government. MR JENNINGS' TOUR. The Kawhia portion of the Taumarunui electorate was visited by Mr Jennings, the Opposition candidate, during the past week. At Waitangura, Kinohaku, Marokopa, Te Rau-a-Moa, Putiaki, and Hangatiki votes of confidence were carried with enthusiasm. At Otorohanga last night the hall was packed, many being unabje to get in. The candidate received an enthusiastic hearing. At the conclusion a motion of thanks and con fidence defeated an adverse amendment overwhelmingly.
