DEFENCE MINISTERS' OPINION
In the Senate on the Defence Bill Senator Tiley moved an amendment for the restoration of wet canteens. He pointed out the BelgianH were the biggest and the British the next biggest liquor consumers Jn the world, and recent events had demonstrated their soldiers were not waßters. Senator Ponrce, Minister of Defence, said he did not Intend to accept the amendment For many year* he had advocated wet canteens, but practiacl experience in military campß had entirely changed his views. Wet canteens were a danger and an evil.
