THE HUNTLY DISASTER.
CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER
MINE MANAGER AKRESTED.
The manage of Ralph's nine, James Fletcher, was arrested on Trursday morning on a charge of manslaughter, arising out of the recent disaster in the mine. He was brought before Mr E. J. Farrsll,. J.P., in the Magistrate's Court, and the following charge was made against him: —"That on or about the 12th day of September, 1914, he did omit, with out lawful excuse, to observe his legal duty in regard to the safety of the lives of the miners in Ralph's Colliery, and in consequence of such omission did C3usa the death of William Burton, and did thereby commit manslaughter."
On the application of tbe prosecution, the case was adjourned until November 26th. Accused was liberated on bail, providing his own recognisance of £l5O, and two sureties each of £l5O.
