Poundkepeer'a Report.—The number of animals impounded from the Ist to 31st October and fees collected for same are aB follows: —Horses impounded and released 34, cattle SO, total 64; fees received for same £lO ss. DogTßx: Fees r&ceived for dogs £2 l?s; Total revenue for month £l3. There are still a few dog taxes to collect which I hope to complete in a few days. Sanitary Matter*. I have seen nothing to complian of during the month, with the exception of one of two or Bmall matters, which have been rectified. Re Motor Car Stand : I have received numerous complaints from carters and others, that so many motor cars remain for many hours at a time alongside the footpath from Fenton's to Robinson's shop, and that thiß prevents carriers from backing , their carts in to deliver I heavy goods to the stores. I would sugeßt that all motor cars be made to stand o« th 3 oppsite side of the road, where they will not interfere with traffic—G H. Yeates.

Foreman's Report.—General- During the month the ordinary work in connection with the Borough has been carried out. All outside roads are being carefully watched, and all holes kept filled up as much as possible The water tables in the Borough are being attended to as time permits. One or two storm water ditches that have grown a on iderable amount of undergrowth have been cleaned out. —Rora street Breastwork: Careful attention is being paid to this, and so far since last meeting of the Council, no further damage bas occurred.— Quatying, Te Kumi: Crushing metal at the quarry has been carried out the whole of the month, everything working satisfactorily. The number of men in the quarry will be increased to six the end of this week when I propose to cart the extra metal crushed with the steam roller. —Sewers: TheFe are being carefully attended to, being flushed out every week and kept in a clean condition. —Tawa Street: The metalling of this street is now completed, thus making a total distance metalled of 32£ chains. —Repairs to Pipe Line, Waiteti: The break in the pipe line which occurred some twelve months ago, has been fixed on the permanent styles. There has also been some drains cut to allow the awampy water to drain off making the ground less liable to slip. There is another place in the pipe line requiring attention, which will be fixed now as the men are there. —Repairs to Impounding Dam, Waiteti: As instructed by the Works Committee the following work's have been carried out at the dam: A channel has been cut in the decking of the Wei's an! then concrete wall extended up to the top; a plate was then fastened down to the wall, and coach screws put in to hjld the timber from shifting; the new concrete block attached to the pen-stock head has been securely fastened down to the concrete wall; the leaks that were running on the railway sile of the dam have all been stopped, and also the leak that used to§:un over till the concrete wall under "the bywash; the banks have also been filled upt 0 their original height both sideß of the dam these having subsided a certain amount as all new fillings are subject to; the leak that was following the pipe linedown was traced to the valve well, this also has been stopped; the only leakage occurring now is at the very bottom of the dam, which would cost a good deal of money to trace; the whole of the weir has been given two good coats of tar and sand, and the inside has been boarded up to prevent the water splashing over and washing away the sides, as it used to do. The whole of the works authorised to be carried out tber« should be completed by Wednesday.—Cleaning Shrubs, Rora Street: As instructed by the Council the shurbs recently planted by the citizens have been cleaned and the whole of the ground turned about to kill the weeds; the total expenditure in connection with this was £2. —Rora Street: Metalling is now being carried out in Rora street to complete the portion from Alexandra street to the school.—T.
