CORRESPONDENCE.
The Editor. - Sir,—Concerning tha approach of the ;famouß Fifth of November, wherein is celebrated by the juvenile section of the community the fate of the misguided Guy Fawkes and his fellow conspirators in the historic "Gunpowder Treason and Plot," I deem it not amisa to offer what appears to ma to be a seasonable suggestion. Instead of commemorating the bygone misdeeds and frailties of our compatriots, let us save our superfluous steam and our juvenile execration for the present universal enemy of mankind, and replace the forumula of/" A penny for the Guy, sir," by "A penny for the Kaiser," the modern Guy Fawkes. They both sound alike; and I fancy that an appeal for financial assistance in burning the "Mad Dog of Europe" would meet with a hearty response from everyone. I make a present of the idea to the boys, and I don't see why its adoption should not mean a very successful celebration.—l am, etc., BRITISHER. ,
