A HIGH RECORD.

The official card of the Departmental record of a milk test made on bhalf of Mt Johnston Wylie, Edendale, with reference to his three-yar-old Holstein heifer "Dutch Lass of Edendale" for twelve months, ending September 2nd 1914, has come under our notice; and we have pleasure in publishing same, 83 of practical interest to the dairying fraternity. The total amount of milk produced, covering a period of 364 days, was 15,604. 21bs. yieling 557.681bs butter fat. The significance of this yield is shown by the fact that the, heifer in quea tion aa produced more than 100 per. cent, aove the standard yield of fat, viz., 274.11b—necessary to qualify her for a departmental record. In the closing days of "Dutch Lass of Edendale's'! twelve months' lacteal period, she was yielding a fraction within 28 lbs,milk daily. Based upon the ruling price of 14fd per lb butter fat paid nut at Edendale dairy factory last sea'son, this fine young coro returned £3l 0s 6d in round figures to her owner. —Southland Times.
