FASTENING HAMMER HEADS.

Apart from the risk of injury, the annoyance caused by the flying off of hammer and hatchet heads is sufficient to render a hint for making them secure particularly welcome. A simple

method of overcoming the occurrenceis to drill a. small hole transversely through the side of the hammer oi hatchet, so as to admit of a small scirew being put in. The head may then be securely fastened to the shaft, as shown in our sketch.
