BRITISH CRUISER SUNK.
TORPEDOED BY SUBMARINE. Wellington, Friday. The British Admialty reports under date London, October 16th: —■ The warship Theseus was attacked by a submarine in the northern waters of the North Sea yesterday afternoon, but was missed. "The warship Hawke was attacked about the same time and sunk. "Four officers and forty-nine men were landed at Aberdeen by a trawler. "The remaining officers and men are missing." SURIVORS ON RAFT. Wellington, Saturday. The following official war news has been received by the Premier, dated London, October 16tth, 8.50 p.m.: "It ia officially stated that ,the lieutenant, commander, and twenty men of the warship Hawke were saved from a raft. This brings the total saved to 74, of a total 0f540."
