TAUMARUNUI CELTIC SPORTS.
The annual sports gathering urder the auspices of the Taumarunui Celtic Sports Club is to be held as usual on Labour Day this year, October 26th. The wide and varied nature of the programme serves to render this one of the most poular sports gatherings in the province and.the event always creates immerse public interest throughout the "district. In view of the war conditions this year it was seriously proposed to abandon the meeting for the year. However, the occurrence of the Huntly disaster led to the matter being reconsidered, and it was determined to promGte t«e fixture as usjal and devote half the takings to the Relief Fund in connection with the mining disaster. Sportsmen are proverbially generous in response to genuine demands in the interests of humanity, and the sporting public may ba depended upon to give enthusiastic support to such a deserving object,
