OTOROHANGA.

Own Ccrrespondent. BUSH FALLING ACCIDENT. A serious accident occurred to a bushman named Scandolyn, who was falling bush for Mr W. Cato, of Honikiwi, on Saturday, by which the unfortunate man received a fractured skull and minor injuries. The accident happened in a very inaccessable part of the bush. Scandolyn and his mate were falling a tree which brought down two limbs of smaller trees. In attempting to get out of the way of one of these the other caught him a crushing blow on the head. It took upwards of twenty men six hours to get him to Mr H. A. Anderson's house where Dr Leeper, who had been summoned by telephone, rendered first aid, and.ordered the man's immediate removal to the hospital at Hamilton. He was brought in by buggy to Otorohanga and taken on to Hamilton by Mr C. Phillips' motor car on Sunday morning, where he arrived in a very precarious condition. An operation is to be performed. OBITUARY. The death occurred here on Friday morning of Albert Ormsby, son of Mr Robert Ormsby, junr , of this town, who had been ailing for some months. He was buried at Mangatia, Pirongia, the burial place of the Ormsby family, on Sunday. A large number attended the funeral. The deceased leaves a widow and threa childern to mourn his'loss. DOMAIN BOARD.

It is notified bv the Gazette, that Messrs John Ormsby (chairman), Robert Green, Charles J. Johnson, W. H. Clasks, and H. Frank Forater, have been appointed a Domain Board for the ensuing seven years. The first meeting of the naw Board took place on Monday night last. DEPARTURE OF MR VICARY. Mr W. Vicary, who has ju3t disposed o<" his residence to Mr E. Edkins, is leaving Otorohanga during the course of the nest month or two, probably for Auckland. He will be greatly missed in the district, as he has always been a public man and taken a great interest in matters appertaining to the welfare and advancement of the town. Mr Vicary is a member of the Otorohango Town Board.has been until this year a member of the Domain Board, and is also a member of *he Chamber of Commerce. He has been a director and acting secretary for the Otorohanga Saleyards Co. since its inception, and has done yeoman service for this company, which may thank him principally for the present satisfactory state of its balance-sheet. Wherever ha goes, Mr Vicary will take with hire the hearty good wishes of his mny friends in and around Otorohanga. SALEYARDS ANNUAL MEETING. The fifth annual general meeting of shareholders of thß Otorohanga Saleyards' Company will be held on Friday, Seutember 25th, in the Waipa Buildings. The business will be to receive report and balance-sheet elect three directors, an auditor and do general business. GENERAL.

The contractors for the building of the new Town Hall, Messrs / Moore and Clarke, are now gutting on very well with their work, the frame work and most of the concrete front ia nearing completion. The hall when finished will, undoubtedly, be an imposing edifice. Mr C. K. Wilson, member for the district, has been asked to lay the foundation stone. The Prebsyterian Church Hall ia in an embryo Btate, and will, when completed, be a very useful building. Mr A. S. Cook is the contractor. Messra W. Guinness, lata Btationmaster at Otorohanga, and H. Elenderson, late porter, who went with the Expeditionary Force to Samoa, have been appointed to poiitions in the Samoan Railways Department. Mr Allan Hood, wheelwright and blacksmith, has just sold out his business to Messra Pomeroy and Co., Ltd., of Hamilton. Messra Pomemy have also a branch of their business in Te Kuiti.
