GOVERNMENT'S PROPOSAL
Tne question of providing the members of tho expeditionary forces with an opportunity to ca3t their votes whb referred to in the Houbb by Sir Joseph Wird on Thursday night. Ho thought it could be arranged by allowing them to vote for party without mentioning the name of any candidate. There was no reason why these men Bhould not vote before leaving; vote for their purty, and vote, also, on the licensing issue. The Prime Minister Baid that he had the mntcer under ci/iißi'deration, and he intended to make a statement about it on Tuesday. The Hon. James Allen saiil,"in proof of the Government's sincerity in the matter, he could tell the House that the Bill was already drafted, and wan under consideration by Cubinet. It was inconceivable that the Government would not recognise the services these young men were reiid»riwj to the Dominion, and to tho Empire, and everything would bo duno that could be done to give them a vote. The Bill might not overcome all the difficulties, but it was an honest attempt to do so.
