PATRIOTIC FUND
THE DISTRICT CONTRIBUTION
STOCK TO BE SOLD FOR FUND
The lists orgifled in the various portions of the district in connection with the Patriotic Fund have not yet been returned, but there is no doubt a considerable sum will bo raieed. The scattered nature of the district, and the infrequent mails render it impossible for the local authorities at Te Kuiti to form an idea as to the amount available, but the efforts are to be continued on lines adopted in other localities. A suggestion has been made that at the next Te Euiti stock sale on August 2nd, entries should be received for a special patriotic pen for all classes of stock, or any other saleable article, the proceeds of the sales to go to the fund. The first entry has already been received in the shape of a children's pony, guaranteed quiet. There ia no doubt this example will be followed by many desirous of helping to swel ( the Dominion's contribution to the Empire. The Prime Minister has telegraphed to the Mayor and the County chairman asking to ha furnished wiih the amount collected in the district, but until the returns are to hand this information will not be available.
