RUSSIA'S STEADY ADVANCE

IN GERMAN TERRITORY. . London, Sunday. Tha French Embassy states that the. Russians defeated three German army corps at Gumbinnen, in East near the Rusiian frontier. It is officially announced that enormous losses were sustained by the Germans during the last few days. An official message from St. Petersburg states that in the early stages of the attack upon Gumbinnen, in East Prussia, the Germans attempted an enveloping movement.
