FARMERS' UNION SUGGESTION

In view nf the fact that certain crop? will be require.! in largely increased quantitii-s to meet the extraordinary demands duo to the war, a proposition was made at the meeting of the Farmers' Union at Margaoronga yesterday which iB worthy of consideration. It was decided to recommend that suitable cropping land adjacent to the railway or ports should be temporarily acquired from the farmers by tho Government for the purpose of growing roots and grain croDS, and that the men thrown out of employment in consequence of the war should be employed on tho land, Buitahle supervisors being provided by the managers of the State farms. Messrs I), and J. Ormsby, of Mangaoronga generously offered to provide ploughabln land to tho extent of 200 acres of easy country near Pirongia fur the purpose.
