TRADE ROUTES OPEN
AN OFFICIAL STATEMENT London, Thursday The Admiralty announces hav'ng despatched a number of mobilised cruisers to guard the South American trade routes, nearly trebling the superior cruiser force already there Twenty-four British cruisers, besides French warships, in the Atlantic are seeking five German cruisers., known to be in tnat ocean The enemy's vessels will bo hunted continually, and though somutima may elapse before they ar« cauant they will be kept too busy to do mucn michief j,%The Admiralty states that its control of trade routes, especially on the Atlantic, is becoming stronger every day. Traders should confidently, and boldly, send their ships to sea An exception is made in the case of the North Sea, where the Germans have scattered mines indiscriminately Importance attaches to the Admiralty's statement that permission has now given for coal shipments from Britain to Norway and Italy
