Brookes and Wilding easily defeated the Canadians, and Powell, in the Bingles in straight sets. The Canadians' were completely outclassed. During Brookes* match the temperature was . a hundred. There was a cooling shower prior to Wilding's match. The courts were heavily tarpaulined and were unaffected. Wilding'n service and returns were marvellous, non-pluasing Powell. ; Lack of confidence hastened Schwenger's defeat, altthough Brookeß was master at all stages.
