MYSTERIOUS TRAGEDY.
WOMAN SHOT DEAD By Telegraph.—fress Association.—Oopyriß&t Sydney, Wednesday. A mysterious tragedy is reported from Mcßean's station near Yas?. A young woman employee named Gertie McAlister was found to-day shot dead in the kitchen. Shortly before she was Been attending to her dutieß. There iB no clue as to how the tragedy occurrnd. SHOT FROM BEHIND ■ Sydney, Thursday. At the inquest on Gertie McAlister, her father gave evidence that his daughter had no lovers and no enemies. Mcßean stated that he saw the deceased alive at 6.30 in the evening. At 8.30 he heard two gunshots, and rußhed to the kitchen, where he found the girl lying on the floor lifeless. The doctors are of opinion that the shots were fired from the back, and
that it was impossible that they were self-inflicted. It is believed that the girl was murdered, but there is no clue. Tho inquest was adjourned.
